Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are
Settily (settily.com) is a community data platform for non-EU professionals relocating to Europe. It is operated by an individual founder team. We are not a data broker. We build tools to help migrants make better-informed decisions.
2. What We Collect and Why
2a. Real Migration Numbers Form
When you submit your migration story via the Share Your Data form, we collect the following information:
- Source country and optional region (e.g. India, Maharashtra)
- Destination country and city
- Year and month of migration
- Visa or permit type
- Family situation at time of move
- Visa processing time
- Salary band and currency (optional)
- Profession
- Biggest surprises about the move (primary + up to 2 secondary)
- Whether you would make the same move again
- Optional free-text reflections
No name, no photo, no phone number is required. The form is anonymous by default. All submissions are stored in a private database and go through a manual moderation step before any data appears publicly. We never display individual submissions. We only show aggregated, anonymised statistics where a minimum of 5 submissions exist for a given data cell.
2b. Optional Contact Information
The form includes optional opt-ins. You may choose to provide:
- Newsletter email — to receive Settily updates (you can unsubscribe at any time)
- Interview email + first name — if you are willing to be interviewed for a migration story
- First name + city — if you consent to an anonymised quote being used on the site
These fields are entirely optional. Leaving them blank does not affect the submission. If you provide an email for the newsletter and later wish to unsubscribe or be removed, email privacy@settily.com.
2c. Browsing the Site
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics for basic traffic measurement. Cloudflare Web Analytics is privacy-first: it does not use cookies, does not fingerprint individual visitors, and does not share data with third parties. We do not run Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or any behavioural tracking scripts. We store your theme preference (light/dark mode) in your browser's local storage — this never leaves your device.
3. How We Store Your Data
Submission data is stored in a Cloudflare D1 database (SQLite), hosted in Cloudflare's
European infrastructure. Cloudflare is SOC 2 certified and operates under the EU–US Data Privacy
Framework. Submissions are stored with is_published = 0 by
default — they are not visible anywhere on the site until manually reviewed and approved by a Settily
team member.
We do not sell, rent, or share raw submission data with any third party. We do not use it for advertising. We use it solely to compute and display aggregated migration statistics on Settily pages.
4. Your Rights (GDPR Lite)
You have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
- Erasure — request that your submission be deleted from our database
- Correction — request that factual errors in your submission be corrected
- Opt-out — unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time
Because submissions are anonymous, we rely on the email address you provided (if any) to verify your identity before processing a deletion or access request. If you submitted without providing an email, erasure requests cannot be fulfilled without additional identifying information about your submission (e.g. approximate submission date, source/destination corridor).
To exercise any of these rights, email: privacy@settily.com
5. Cookies
Settily does not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies. We use:
- Cloudflare Turnstile — a privacy-respecting CAPTCHA used on the submission form. It does not use intrusive fingerprinting and does not track you across sites.
- Browser localStorage — stores your theme preference and partial form progress (session only). Never transmitted to our servers.
6. Data Retention
Approved submissions are retained indefinitely as part of our community dataset. They are never displayed individually. If you request erasure, your record is deleted from the database and will not appear in future aggregations. It may remain in older aggregated JSON snapshots until the next daily rebuild runs.
7. Changes to This Policy
We will update this page when our data practices change. Significant changes will be noted at the top of this page with a revised date. Continued use of Settily after a policy update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
